5/13/2005 -- A nice day on the River, after weeks of
rain. The
brookie is 18+ inches and is the biggest I have ever caught
in moving water. Again, the
Conehead Combo "makes my
day". |

Loren Williams
of NY mailed to me several nymphs
[1] [2] he
built with woodchuck fur. Loren knows that I like to use
woodchuck and his flies are excellent samples of what can be done
with this critter. Below are two images. On the close-up I
used a black background to accent the white tips of the woodchuck guardhairs. |

This lady bug is one of
Bob Mead's realistic flies. I first met Bob several
winters ago at The Fly Fishing Show in Marlboro MA, where he
is a demonstrator. Bob truly enjoys sharing his
ideas and techniques. If you have questions or have
an interest in his realistic flies, click here to email
him. |

Four Covered Bridges: (1) The Cornish-Windsor
Bridge spans the Connecticut River, which creates the long
ragged border between Vermont and New Hampshire. This is the
longest wooden covered bridge in the United States and the
longest two-span covered bridge in the world. The bridge is
449'5" long and has two spans of 204' and 203'. (2)
Moxley Bridge
was built in 1883 and spans the First Branch of the White
River in Chelsea, Vermont. (3) East Pepperell
Bridge over Nashua River, Massachusetts and (4) Artist's Bridge
over Sunday River in Newry, Maine. This 87 foot
bridge was built in 1872. (Photo by Laurie
